Attach the threaded end to a portable air compressor, gas station hose or bicycle pump and the Air Daddy becomes a high-pressure air pump. Included are two adapters that are designed for small and large inflation holes. The ergonomic design makes it easy to grip in the palm of the hand. Sized to fit easily in small medical and lab equipment, fuel cells, and mass spectrometers, the tiny Model P5H7 scroll pump delivers up to 10 psi and has a no-load flow of 0.14 cfm. Quiet and inherently vibration-free, it is available in aluminum or economical injection-molded plastic. Pump can be adapted for liquids and is suitable for use in disposable applications. The Vilter Mini-Screw (VSM) is a rotary, positive-displacement compressor that incorporates a main screw and two gate rotors. The compact design has no external tubing, no gearbox, and an optional oil pump. In addition, the VSM is quieter than twin-screw compressors. Champion offers the HGR6-3K reciprocating air compressor model in the R Series line. This engine driven, splash-lubricated compressor is a two-stage pump. The unit has been engineered with an integral cylinder head, which does not require head gaskets. This design eliminates the possibility of blown head gaskets. A 0.5-hp scroll compressor/vacuum pump is an oil-free unit that provides less than 1 Torr of vacuum or 20 psig of compressed air on ventilators, aspirators, oxygen concentrators, and blood-pressure carbonfiber monitors. The scroll design offers smooth, pulse-free operation, and with only one moving part, scroll machines usually last the lifetime of the equipment in which they are integrated. Single-stage epoxy compressor/vacuum pumps can be used in laboratories, electronics-manufacturing applications, and in the energy industry for fuel solar cells and microturbines. Used as a vacuum source, the 0.5-hp unit provides < 1 Torr ultimate vacuum panel with a pumping speed of 3.5 cfm. In compressor mode, the unit provides 3 cfm at 20 psig, with max open flow of 3.5 cfm. A four-pole ac motor powers the compressor/vacuum pump. Now, a relatively new technology shows promise of adding an element of certainty to an otherwise uncertain carbonfiber rescue.Downed firefightersOrange County (Fla.) Fire and Rescue has completed initial field tests of a Global Positioning System - based rapid-deployment, epoxy in-building personnel geo-location and tracking system for use by firefighters on the fireground. The system is designed by MeshNetworks of Maitland, Fla., a mobile broadband networking firm, with systems integration assistance from IBM.This Mesh Enable Architecture system, a spin-off of the company''s sophisticated military battlefield geo-location solution, employs three or four routers solar mounted on 6-foot tripods positioned around the burning building. Once the routers obtain their exact latitude and longitude via GPS, they are able to perform wireless radio triangulation to fix the location of any firefighter within the perimeter who''s equipped with a cell phone - sized transponder device.
