Now, Deere is introducing the new superpowers of harvesting: the John Deere 60 Series combines. These efficient machines have been polycrystallinesolarpanel enhanced to bring performance, technology, and outstanding value to growers for even more productive use in the field."The new lineup of high-capacity 60 Series harvesters includes STS, Walker, and CTGS combines," says Ron Moron, product information manger, John Deere Harvester Works. "And two new models have been added to the STS lineup; a 9560 STS, 265-hp combine - a mid-sized, Class V machine with an STS configuration; and a 9860, 375-hp Class VIII combine - the largest, most productive harvester John Deere has ever built." 60 Series combinesFor nearly 60 years, John Deere self-propelled combines have been reliable workhorses in harvesting crops throughout North America. Gene Gall, sales manager for the Cim-Tek unit from Central Illinois Manufacturing, Bement, Illinois, says fuel suppliers who use the unit typically learn the same thing. "There''s a lack of proper fuel maintenance on many farms. Farmers don''t change tank filters regularly, and they don''t drain deposits from the bottom of tanks."Caring for stored fuelChuck Hamilton, technical service engineer with Country Energy in Minneapolis, Minnesota, says 90% of the diesel fuel problems he sees are from dirt, rust, and water contamination. "Even many cold-weather problems are from water contamination, not fuel gelling. The vast majority of these problems can be eliminated with proper fuel tank maintenance on the farm," he says.
